March Classic 2018

On March 20, 2018, Grain Farmers of Ontario presents the 2018 edition of the March Classic

The March Classic is the largest grain-focused conference in Eastern Canada drawing upwards of 700 attendees from farms across Ontario, government, and industry.

Conference attendees will receive presentations from four world-class speakers, as well as updates from Grain Farmers of Ontario.

Throughout the day, the exhibit hall hosts over 60 exhibits, including large machinery, as well as special benefits like book signings and meet-and-greets with celebrities.

Those who stay for the evening banquet will enjoy continued conversations while dining and being entertained by a top-notch performer.

Speakers

Darby Allen

Fire chief Darby Allen shot to global acclaim when he guided the 88,000 residents of Fort McMurray to safety with no loss of life during 2016’s catastrophic Alberta wildfires – the largest evacuation in Canadian history. As a firefighter, Allen is an exemplar of selfless courage and level-headedness under pressure; as a speaker, he shows us how to overcome emergencies and crises in our own lives.

Dr. Laurence C. Smith

Dr. Laurence C. Smith is one of the world’s leading climate scientists, and his award-winning debut book The World in 2050: Four Forces Shaping Civilization’s Northern Future, based on his ground-breaking research, has been translated into 14 languages since it was published in 2012. In sweeping talks covering demographics, climate science, and economics, Smith outlines the changes our world will face in both the distant and immediate future.

Gordon Campbell

As Canada’s High Commissioner to the UK from 2011 to 2016, Gordon Campbell holds a unique understanding of what Brexit means for our economy. Previously, Campbell was mayor of Vancouver during its ascent to one of the world’s most livable cities, and was the highly regarded Premier of BC for 10 years. In keynotes, he reminds us that we live in “one of the most open, democratic, striving countries in the world.”

Kirstine Stewart

One of Canada’s most high-profile women in business, Kirstine Stewart has held leadership roles with the CBC, Alliance Atlantis, and Twitter. She is currently the Chief Strategy Officer for Diply, a successful web content platform. Stewart is also a bestselling author and a powerful speaker; she talks about how modern workplaces need a new kind of leader – one who values partnership, collaboration, and empathy.
