Advertising Sales Representative

Grain Farmers of Ontario are an agricultural organization that represents the interests of over 28,000 farmer-members across Canada. In this position, generate advertising sales for our Grain Farmers of Ontario’s print and digital platforms, and secure sponsors and exhibitors for their industry events. Collaborate with the in-house communications and creative teams to develop advertising sales strategies and material, while working closely with external stakeholders, partners and potential clients.

Reporting to the Manager, Communications and Managing Editor you will:

  • Perform and manage the full sales cycle and ensure yearly budgeted sales goals are met and exceeded for their print and digital advertising platforms
  • Identify and develop relationships with new prospects with the goal of broadening the pool of advertisers beyond traditional agriculture sectors
  • For the March Classic event, maintain relationships with advertisers and exhibitors, and acquire new business through consistent business development activities 
  • Collaborate with the in-house communications and creative teams to develop custom advertising solutions and materials for partners and prospective advertisers
  • Send invoices, provide cut sheets when requested, and follow-up to ensure payment is received when necessary
  • Manage business development activities through CRM database administration, develop electronic presentation materials, and ensure the media kit is up-to-date

Your background includes:

  • 3+ years of experience in a sales and/or business development role
  • Knowledge of the agriculture industry through professional and/or personal experiences
  • A track record of success establishing and achieving sales targets, with demonstrated tenacity and drive to ask for the business and close the deal
  • Proven experience prospecting, building and cultivating relationships with clients and converting relationships into business opportunities
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities with effective public speaking and presentation skills
  • A creative mindset with the ability to develop original ideas for tailored advertising solutions
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite an asset

This position will be based out of the Grain Farmers of Ontario office, with travel throughout Ontario as required.
