Digital Content Coordinator

Position Summary

The Digital Content Coordinator plays an important role in delivering agricultural messaging to producers, industry and consumers through managing the organization’s overall online presence. The Digital Content Coordinator should have a firm grasp of the different digital touch points, drive effective digital campaigns, enhance user experience, and deliver on digital objectives. They will work alongside the communications team to manage and direct the activities and traffic on websites owned by Grain Farmers of Ontario as well as manage our social channels. This position reports to the Manager, Communications to update, seek guidance and obtain necessary approvals.

Key Accountabilities & Activities

  • Update and manage web content; maintain and correct current and new information on multiple websites
  • Daily review of website for continuity, consistency and bugs
  • Ensure all items on website follow AODA accessibility requirements
  • Develop Monthly reports on website analytics for review; develop insights and recommendations based on monthly reports
  • Ensure all websites are responsive – that they work on mobile phones and tablets
  • Maintain Grain Farmers of Ontario Apps as vendor relationship manager
  • Improve and maintain Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
  • Implement search engine marketing (SEM) strategies
  • Execute digital/social media campaign strategies, manage content calendar, coordinate and deploy campaigns for a variety reputation management and profile-raising initiatives on multiple digital channels 
  • Generate, edit, publish and share daily original content across all social media platforms
  • Conduct competitive research, platform determination, benchmarking, messaging and audience identification to measure campaign and cost effectiveness for future initiatives
  • Update digital platforms to increase the visibility of social content
  • Capture and analyze all digital marketing data/metrics, insights and best practices, and propose actions based on the data to measure against communications goals
  • Provide assistance to the Manager, Communications as required

Education

  • University or College diploma in Communications, Marketing or related field
  • Proven experience working in social media marketing or as a digital media specialist

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated social networking experience and social analytics tools knowledge
  • Excellent copywriting and editing skills
  • Highly creative with attention to detail
  • Experience with HTML is considered an asset
  • Adapts to new technology tools quickly
  • Quality Assurance, testing, troubleshooting and fixing any functionality issues
  • High level of proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and the Internet
  • Experience in;
    • SEO and SEM campaign tools (Google Adwords)
    • Email marketing campaign software (MailChimp, Constant Contact)
    • Content management systems (WordPress)
    • Social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter)
    • graphic design tools; Photoshop and/or Illustrator or comparable programs
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills – Bilingualism (French/English) considered an asset
  • Capacity to work under pressure, with tight deadlines and in stressful situations
  • Willingness to work extended hours and evening as required – this role will require some travel and physical work setting up at events and helping at event exhibits
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team
  • Sound judgment, integrity in all actions, critical thinking skills
  • Some understanding of the Ontario agricultural industry

Working Environment

  • Working conditions normal for an office environment.
  • Flexibility to travel and willing to work outside of normal office hours when circumstances dictate
