Applications open for 2026 Grain Farmers of Ontario Legacy Scholarship
GUELPH, Ont. – May 7, 2026 – Applications are now open for the 2026 Grain Farmers of Ontario Legacy Scholarship. The scholarship supports students pursuing post-secondary education in fields that will contribute to the future of Ontario’s grain sector and agri-food industry.
Now in its fifth year, the Legacy Scholarship encourages the development of future leaders across a wide range of disciplines, reflecting the diversity of careers within agriculture, including science, technology, business, communications, and public policy.
The Grain Farmers of Ontario Legacy Scholarship is open to students accepted or currently enrolled in any accredited post-secondary college or university program. Up to 10 scholarships of $5,000 each will be awarded annually, with up to five available to students pursuing non-agriculture-specific studies.
Eligibility requirements include:
- Must be a permanent Ontario resident
- Must be entering or currently enrolled in a full-time post-secondary program
- Must be attending an accredited college or university
- Must be enrolled as a full-time student for the Fall 2026 semester
- Applicants are eligible at any point during their studies
- Recipients may only receive the scholarship once
- Employees of Grain Farmers of Ontario and their children are not eligible
Applicants must submit a resumé, a letter of reference, and a 500-1,000-word essay outlining their interest in their chosen field of study, how their career goals will benefit Ontario’s grain sector or agri-food industry, and why Grain Farmers of Ontario should support their academic journey. Proof of enrolment is also required.
