Grain Farmers of Ontario Scholarship Program Open for Applicants Until July 21
Guelph, ON – June 13, 2024 – Grain Farmers of Ontario, the province’s largest commodity organization, representing Ontario’s 28,000 barley, corn, oat, soybean and wheat farmers, is accepting applications for the Grain Farmers of Ontario Legacy Scholarship. The deadline to apply is July 21, 2024.
The scholarship program is now in its third year, supporting students in any area of study that will benefit the Ontario grain sector or agri-food industry and supports the development of future leaders in these areas.
First launched in 2022, the Legacy Scholarship encourages the pursuit of higher education and has been awarded to 19 students attending schools across the country in a variety of programs, including Aerospace Engineering, Sciences, Marketing, Economics, Agriculture, and more.
“Ensuring that students pursue areas of study that will help grow and improve the agriculture and agri-food industries is an important priority for Grain Farmers of Ontario. We are thrilled with the reception of our Legacy Scholarship to date, and we encourage students to apply and grow diversity and interest in farming and the broader agriculture industry,” said Jeff Harrison, Chair, Grain Farmers of Ontario.
The Grain Farmers of Ontario Legacy Scholarship is open to Ontario students accepted or enrolled in any accredited post-secondary college or university program. Up to 10 scholarships of $5,000 per recipient will be awarded annually, and up to five may be awarded to students pursuing non-agriculture-specific studies.
Eligibility requirements:
- Must be a permanent Ontario resident
- Recipients are only eligible for one bursary in their lifetime
- Students must be in a full-time program
- Students must be attending an accredited College or University
- Students are eligible during any point of their studies
Scholarship applicants are required to submit a resume and a 500-to-1,000-word essay explaining how they became interested in their area of study, how their area of study and career goals will benefit the future of the Ontario grain sector or agri-food industry, and why Grain Farmers of Ontario should be a partner in their academic journey.
The deadline to apply is July 21, 2024
