Tractor cab telephone town hall June 2nd
GUELPH, ON (May 29, 2014) – Grain Farmers of Ontario will host its first Tractor Cab Telephone Town Hall this Monday, June 2nd, 11:00am – 11:45am with Ernie Hardeman, Progressive Conservative candidate.
Due to the late spring this year keeping farmers in the field and away from election activities and events, Grain Farmers of Ontario will be hosting a series of Tractor Cab Telephone Town Halls to facilitate dialogue between farmers and the election candidates. A second Telephone Town Hall is scheduled for June 6th, 11:30 am with Jeff Leal of the Liberal party, and additional Town Halls will be released as confirmed.
“Grain Farmers of Ontario has several questions prepared for each candidate during the Town Halls,” says Debra Conlon, Manager of Government Relations at Grain Farmers of Ontario. “Our questions surround the Risk Management Program, a Soy Innovation Centre, increased research capacity, and the regulatory process for agricultural technologies.”
Grain Farmers of Ontario encourages farmer members to join Monday’s conference call to discuss election priorities and to hear directly from Ernie Hardeman about the Progressive Conservative’s campaign. Hardeman is a well-known critic for Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs and MPP for Oxford County.
The dial-in number for the June 2nd call is 1-888-886-7786. All farmer members will receive a phone call this week to ensure they have the dial-in details. For more information, visit www.gfo.ca.
