Grain Farmers of Ontario tractor cab telephone town hall a success
GUELPH, ON (June 3, 2014) – The first of three Tractor Cab Telephone Town Halls hosted by Grain Farmers of Ontario took place on Monday, June 2nd with Progressive Conservative member Ernie Hardeman.
Farmers called in to hear the Progressive Conservative Party’s thoughts on the Risk Management Program, a Soy Innovation Centre, Ontario specific research capacity, and the regulatory process for agricultural technologies. Grain Farmers of Ontario would like to thank Ernie Hardeman and the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party for participating in this important exercise.
“We’re hosting these Town Halls to help farmers get involved in the election process while working on their farms,” says Henry Van Ankum, Grain Farmers of Ontario Chair. “Everyone is focused on getting their crops in the ground after a tough winter and late, wet spring – we are pleased that many farmer-members were able to call-in to the first Town Hall.”
The next Tractor Cab Telephone Town Hall will take place on Friday, June 6th at 11:30am with Jeff Leal, Ontario Liberal Party Minister of Rural Affairs. The third Town Hall will take place on Monday, June 9th at 11:00am with New Democrat Party Agriculture Critic John Vanthof. The call-in number for both Town Halls is 1-888-886-7786.
