Recently I’ve been able to attend committee meetings for corn, soybeans and cereals. These meetings have been really eye opening; coming from a farm/ag retail/communications perspective, I never would have known what is happening at all of these committee meetings without having actually attended them.

The Ontario Soil Network is up and running for 2019. In January, 25 of the selected 37 farmer mentors from across the province met in Kingston to network, work on presentation and leadership skills, and learn how to talk to the media. Each of these farmers in the upcoming year will be expected to promote soil health practices to their friends and neighbours through various discussions. They will also be asked to host a field day.
