Wheat Quality Testing Available to Farmer-Members

Wheat harvest is now in full swing in parts of the province. Farmer-members can take advantage of independent quality analysis available through the joint venture with SGS Canada and the Grains Analytical Testing Laboratory.

This opportunity will provides with an independent review of wheat quality including protein, moisture, falling number and test weight. Grain Farmers of Ontario strongly encourages producers to submit a sample for testing prior to delivery for an indication of quality.

Grain Farmers of Ontario also encourages members to review all wheat contracts prior to delivery. Each contract is different and members should review to ensure they understand the components of each, including what discounts could occur if quality specifications included within the contract are not met.  Members are reminded to check if protein is included within the price agreed upon or excluded from the price as this will vary depending on the company and contract in place.
